29th january
scene 1:
scene 2:

scene 3:
knowing the state showreel has to be finished by tomorrow and warmed up
from the bath i unpacked my bag and turned my laptop back on. at eleven
o'clock. tomorrow is friday so all i have to do is get through the day
burning and posting. that, in any case, is the plan. a plan better than
monica's man, jam or baby plans. although much less funny than the
trigger happy tv moment where i ran down stairs, pulled my camera
out of my pocket, smiled at steve who i met waiting for the lift and took
a picture as the doors opened.
wednesday 28th january
tuesday 27th january
i bet anna a tenner it would snow this week. (colin
the doorman saw the weather forecast in sky at lunch and told me).

sunday 25th january
took odz tom to ikea.
met dairy lea for the first time. a black bean bag from argos and but
no hip hop! ;-p
friday 23rd january
ade's site made
me smile today - 'whoever saved it last did it!' and 'i'm sure there is
a dfs around here somewhere', reminding me of 'anywhere. as long as they
sell burgers.' and my street.
this astounded me. they want
to sell papers, yes? oh, and talking of papers i sat down and politely
asked the man next to me if i could read the paper on the seat next to
him. 'no, he said, 'i'm reading it.' then he folded it, and put it on
his lap, under the paper he was actually reading. i was so pissed
off i took his picture so i could glare at him later. naturally, i named
the photo appropriately.
thursday 22st january
an early start for a favour to an unsurprisingly unhelpful set of civil
servants at westminster city hall. i found out what a mansard roof is
and failed to pick up emma's building plans. sherlocking it to back to
the studio, film noir detective style, the email was sent.
couldn't sleep so i read the rest of 'nostradamus. how strange that the
whole book was summarised in the last 8 pages. save yourself some time
by just reading the 'reg' section. oh, and if you weren't too into 'girlfriend
in a coma' i'd definitely go 'shampoo planet' instead. still my favourite.
wednesday 21st january
ok, so check out the bbc's 'how to invoice us' web page here.
getting one into their system is a job in itself which should actually
require another invoice. but who'd go through the rigmarole repeatedly?
self-perpetuating admin hell isn't my idea of job satisfaction, thanks.
although the money would be handy.
monday 19th january
i had to look up 'quorum' in the dictionary.
sunday 18th january
the days are just packed and there's treasure everywhere...
hey, it's easy to get to chalk farm. just head for camden then follow
signs. the lansdowne
was packed, kate and chris looked tired but slightly more at ease with
ben - who didn't wake up, again - and alex and louie provided the entertainment.
'how old is he now?' i asked my brother in law's sister.
'six' lise said, slightly fearfully.
'excellent - calvin and hobbes' age, then.' immediately before holding
alex upside down by the ankles over the dinner table. lise shrieked, louie
dropped to the floor in a single, stage dive and squalked 'my turn!' then
it was badminton club.
saturday 17th january
a new tyre, stocking up on food, a new towel rail, a hangover and possibly
the worst playground in the world, ever.
friday 16th january
for a treat to myself i drove to work which i realised i shouldn't have
done as the front tyre blew on the way home. lbc is being very badly behaved
recently. cars don't like being neglected, i've found.
tuesday 14th january
plastering the kitchen after work isn't exactly the best way to relax.
but it is the only way to stop roaches coming through the hole in the
wall my damp proofers so kindly concealed behind the skirting board.
tuesday 6th january
on the bus home: 'that aside, i think you can safely
say that a guy in west vancouver facing the ocean writing stuff on a clipboard
in the mid afternoon has troubles.if i've learned anything in twenty-nine
years, it's that every human being you see in the course of a day has
a problem that's sucking up at least 70 percent of his or her radar. my
gift - bad choice of words - is that i can look at you, him, her, them,
whoever, and tell right away what is keeping them awake at night: money,
feelings of insignificance, overwhelming boredom, evil children, job troubles,
or perhaps death, in one of its many costumes, perched in the wings. what
surprises me about humanity is that in the end such a narrow range of
plights defines our moral lives.'
- douglas coupland, hey nostradamus!
monday 5th january
averaging out to normal, as per usual.

sunday 4th january
'tempers are wearing thin. let's
just hope a robot doesn't kill everybody!' - bender, futurama.
saturday 3rd january
tracey came over for a mellow evening. we ate, chatted
and watched.
friday 2nd january
woke up at 4pm today. apart from wiping sleep out of
my eyes nothing much else happened.
thursday 1st january
sleep. happy darkness.
